Who Can You Believe?

Dear ACTS Friend,

I recall reading in Reader's Digest about an advertising company who quoted Jesus (sort of) saying, "If you have faith as much as a grain of mustard seed in our product, you will achieve exceptional results." With this ad they included a mustard seed.

Some time later a customer wrote to this company saying, "I want you know that I planted the mustard seed you included with your advertisement last year and you will be interested to know that it has grown to a healthy plant that is now bearing big red tomatoes."

Between politicians and advertisers with their grandiose vote-getting promises they know they can't fulfill and exaggerated results of the products they are pushing—plus the liberal media—it has become increasingly difficult to know who you can trust anymore.

Fortunately there is one who always keeps and fulfills every promise and one source we know we can always trust with absolute certainty—and that is God and his Word. How tragic it is when we, as a nation, don't believe God's promise which says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD" (Psalm 33:12).

Here in the U.S. (and other Western nations) with our accelerating moral decline—pushing, promoting, and accepting the homosexual agenda, gay marriage, unrestrained abortion, barbaric murderous partial-birth abortion, and botched abortions where babies are born alive and put aside to die. This is murder. Yes, MURDER! And what about big businesses that financially back politicians and support causes that approve of all or even some of the above? Think, too, of judges who override the vote of the people to promote their own immoral agenda!

What a STENCH all of this must be in the "nostrils of God"—and add to this the accelerating erosion of our Christian foundations.

Furthermore, has our current economic crisis caused us to ignore the fact that radical Islam has not changed or altered its goal to wipe Israel off the map and to either convert or kill Americans and Christians? We in the West urgently need to wake up and smell the gunpowder!

One cannot help but wonder are we seeing the stage being set for the coming of the Lord?

Regardless, today—perhaps as never before—it is urgent that we who name the name of Christ stand up and be counted and do everything in our power to proclaim the only hope of the world—the saving gospel message of Jesus Christ.

The reality is that people without Jesus are lost—eternally—without hope. Forever. Plus, when, as a nation, we distance ourselves from God, we automatically cut ourselves off from God's blessings. The result? Our nation for our children and grandchildren will be lost spiritually!

As the late missionary statesman, Oswald J. Smith of the People's Church in Toronto, Canada, said: "The supreme task of the church is the evangelization of the world." Would to God that every church and every Christian believed this and acted accordingly.

In spite of the nightmarish technical problems that ACTS e-mail and web ministries have had these past three months caused by malicious hackers—by the grace of God and the support of God's people—we are continuing to do everything in our power to reach as many people as possible every day of the year (24-7-365) with the saving gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Tech support still has some work to do to get everything with our e-mail and Internet working properly. But we are persevering on regardless. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "It is God himself, in his mercy, who has given us this wonderful work [of telling his Good News to others], and so we never give up" (2 Cor. 4:1, TLB). Please pray that tech support will get everything fixed and for God's protection against all forces of evil who would love to put us out of business—God's business!

In spite of the challenges, people worldwide are still responding daily to the gospel from Daily and Weekend Encounter and our web pages. Many are praying to receive Jesus as their Savior and many are re-committing their life to Jesus Christ. In fact, to date this year we have received 3,968 of these decisions from at least 119 countries that we know about—including from some Muslim countries.

We also receive continual replies from readers telling how God has used the Daily and Weekend Encounters and Internet ministries to bless, strengthen, help and encourage them. For us, it is always a blessing to know that God is using these ministries to bless others.

We praise God for the incredible opportunity he has given to today's Church—the ability to reach so many around the world … by so few … by so little relative cost … in so brief a time … especially via e-Mail and the World Wide Web.

Please know that your prayer and financial support is also a great blessing and encouragement to us, for without your help none of the ACTS ministries would be possible. You are thus a vital part of this outreach.

To keep ACTS publishing the gospel, and to overcome technical setbacks, we need your continued prayer and financial support. Joy and I are our only full-time staff and the task is far beyond our abilities. As God has called us to this ministry we know that He is calling many other committed Christians to also be a vital part of this gospel outreach ministry with their prayer and financial support. If you are not a regular supporter, will you please prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you to give—be it large or small. Please may we hear from you today.

Gratefully in Christ,

Richard (Dick) and Joy Innes
